Getting Started With Your Indoor Herb Garden
Our daughter Amelia has put together a short demonstration showing exactly how to plant your seeds using our new soil pellets. Watch the video to see just how simple it is to set up your indoor herb garden, even if you’re a complete beginner.
🌱 How to Plant Your Indoor Herb Garden
Each herb in your kit has slightly different growing needs—especially Mint, which behave differently from classic herbs like Basil or Parsley. Please check your individual herb cards for more detailed care tips.
Below are the general instructions to help every herb in your indoor garden get off to the best possible start.
Â
1. HOW TO EXPAND YOUR SOIL PELLETS
Soak the pellets:
Place the dry soil pellets in a tray and pour warm water over them until they fully absorb moisture and expand.Â
Make a planting hole:
Use a pencil or small tool to gently create a small indentation in the center of each expanded pellet.Â
Plant seeds:
Carefully place your seeds into the depression, ensuring they are at the correct depth according to the seed type.
(Please see seed instructions below)
Place one soil pellet into each jar

3. Lightly Water
“Lightly water” means the soil should remain moist but never soggy.
-
You should not see water pooling in the jar.
-
You should feel soft, damp soil when you touch it.
Consistent moisture helps your seeds germinate and begin sprouting quickly.
Â
4. Keep Your Indoor Herb Garden Warm
Herbs grow best in warm, cosy environments. A sunny windowsill or warm corner of the kitchen works perfectly. The warmer the setting, the higher the chance of strong, healthy growth.
Â
5. Watch for Sprouts
Different herbs sprout at different speeds. Basil and Parsley may appear within days, while Mint or Chilli can take a little longer—this is completely normal. Stay patient and keep the soil lightly moist.
Â
🌿 Caring for Each Herb in Your Indoor Herb Garden
Each herb—Basil, Parsley, Mint, Chilli, and more—has its own personality. Some prefer more sunlight, others like a little shade. Be sure to check the individual instructions included in your kit for the best results.
